Hamilton enjoys a comfortable year-round climate. Winters are pleasant and warm, while summers are not uncomfortably cool. Throughout the year, conditions are ideal for sightseeing outdoors, visiting parks and gardens, and stretching out on the beach. The reliable weather is thanks to the 'Bermuda High', a patch of semi-permanent high pressure that looms over the island and keeps ill-meaning weather patterns at bay.

Bermuda is much farther north than the Bahamas, a fact that many travellers overlook. Winters are cooler than those seen farther south in the Caribbean, and the wintertime climate is not ideal for swimming. Tennis, golf and other outdoor sports can be comfortably enjoyed in any season.

Seasonal Climate Variations / When to Go

During the summer climate, expect temperatures to hover around 30°C / 85°F, with a bit of day-to-day variation. Surprisingly, the water can get just as warm in the summer, which makes it easy to see why tourists prefer to visit between April and October. Snorkelling, swimming and scuba diving couldn't be any more comfortable at this time.

Off season in Hamilton begins right before Christmas and lasts until early March. This is when local hotels drop their rates. To the south, the Caribbean is seeing its peak tourism season at about this time, which makes Bermuda an excellent choice for holiday bargains for those who long for the Caribbean but don't mind settling for the subtropical North Atlantic.

Officially, hurricane season begins in the summer and lasts until November or so, but stormy weather is a rarity in Hamilton, especially when compared to US cities at comparable latitude. Tourists generally have confidence in forecasts, and the peak tourist season is seldom disrupted.
